To Gayles View Farm & Dalton + Covid-19 lockdown alternative

Easy walk across fields and a farm yard. Quiet road return. 3.6k; 45 min

A gentle walk through the fields to Dalton and return along quiet roads
This is well signed until you reach the hedge around Gayles View. The path on the OS map show the route about 100metres further north than the beaten track. Cross the stile into a a field which is used for horse riding. Keep to the edge and then exit on to the farm courtyard either south of the Dalton beck and to the road, or if sheep are blocking your path, go through a gate and cross the bridge to the north bank. Then exit via the farm courtyard
The roads are quiet

Dog unfriendly style. You will need to lift your dog over
Turn left on the road back to Gayles phonebox

Alternative route: 4.8k. 1 hr

Covid-19 low risk route

In these times of lockdown and the need to observe social distancing, it is probably a good idea to avoid farmyards and gardens/paddocks close to houses (even though the rights of way have not been closed). The route illustrated substitutes a walk across the fields and farmyard for one on a narrow very quiet road – it makes for a very pleasant walk with little if any chance of meeting another soul!
I would suggest using this alternative.
